Accomplishments & Accolades

Clarksdale/Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce Special Events · March 28 at 12:08pm

What a great day! In conjunction with the City of Clarksdale Mayor and Board of Commissioners, we were proud to announce another expansion at Molded Acoustical Products (MAP) in Clarksdale. The expansion promises 24 new career opportunities. The effort was the culmination of years of successful operation with the local labor force and much hard paperwork to make it happen. On hand for this announcement were Henry Dorsey, President of the Economic Development Authority; Michele Fondren, President of the Industrial Foundation; Mayor Chuck Espy; John D’Amico, Jr., owner of MAP; Mickey Milligan, Existing Industry Manager with MS Development Authority; Willie Turner, City Commissioner; Jon Levingston, Chamber Executive Director; and Ken Murphey, City Commissioner. Comments and details were shared with an excited crowd of 60+ officials, businesspersons, and community leaders. What a wonderful day for Clarksdale/Coahoma County!

Dear Friends:

I am pleased to invite you to the announcement of a major plant expansion project on Wednesday, March 28, at 10:30a.m., at the MAP of Easton plant on Highway 322. The remarks and announcement will be followed by a plant tour, for those who wish to participate. This is a very happy occasion for the City of Clarksdale and Coahoma County because it means new jobs for our community and a great boost to our economy!

Your team at the Chamber has worked hard to bring this project to fruition. We have had wonderful partners with whom to work, including Mayor Chuck Espy and the Clarksdale Board of Commissioners (Ed Seals, Willie Turner, Ken Murphey, and Bo Plunk), Paul Pearson and the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors (Johnny Newson, Derrell Washington, Pat Davis, and Will Young), James Curcio and Darrell Dixon of the North Delta Planning District, Mike Philpot of Delta Council, Ron Hudson, our former executive director, and Tracey Giles and Caleb Ross of the Mississippi Development Authority. I wish to thank everyone at City Hall, including Margarette Meeks, our City Attorney, and Cathy Clark, our City Clerk, for their tremendous contributions. We are fortunate to have elected officials and community leaders willing to work so well together for the benefit of our community.

In the event of rain, we will hold the announcement in the City of Clarksdale Board Room at City Hall.

Please invite your family, friends, and colleagues to join us for this exciting announcement next Wednesday, March 28, at the MAP of Easton Plant on Highway 322.

With kindest regards,

Jon
